Who are they suitable for?
The Award is suitable for those not yet working in a Level 3 school role but who can achieve at this Level. In addition, it is suitable as initial training. The Level 3 Certificate is appropriate for those working in unsupervised roles that support pupils’ learning.
What are the entry requirements?
You should be at least 16 years old.
How many credits are required to complete them?
The Award requires 12 credits and the Certificate requires 32. Credits from the Award can be carried over and counted towards the Certificate.
How are they assessed?
They will be assessed by your tutor or assessor using a variety of methods. These may include direct observation in the workplace, a portfolio of evidence, written assignments or a set task.
Do you need to be working to take the qualifications?
Learners completing the Award do not need to be working.
Learners undertaking the Certificate will need to be working or volunteering in a school environment as they will need to show competence in both knowledge and skills.
How long do they take to complete?
You can usually complete them in a year.
