What does the qualification cover?
It incorporates all the units from the Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People’s Workforce (QCF) which means it meets the requirements needed to work in the Children and Young People’s Workforce.
In addition, it has extended units to assess, build and develop the higher level skills required to study effectively and successfully in higher education.
If you have already completed the Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People’s Workforce, you only need to complete the additional units and assignments to gain the full qualification.
Who is it suitable for?
Anyone who works or wants to work at a supervisory level in the children and young people’s workforce or who is looking to go onto take a degree in a related discipline.
What are the entry requirements?
You should be at least 16 years old and it is recommended you have a GCSE in English and Maths.
How many credits are required to complete it?
The Diploma requires 150 credits.
How is it assessed?
It will be assessed by your tutor or assessor and CACHE. For the Children and Young People Workforce units this could include direct observation in the workplace, a portfolio of evidence, written assignments or a task set by CACHE.
The extended units will be assessed by mandatory tasks set by CACHE plus three written assignments.
Do you need to be working to take the qualification?
Yes, you will need to be working, volunteering or on practical placement as you need to show competence in both knowledge and skills.
How long does it take to complete?
You can usually complete it in 2 years.
What related qualifications can you progress to?
The Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People’s Services or a Degree in a related discipline .
