Fundamental British Values and the Prevent Duty

There are four fundamental British values that, by embedding them into daily practice, essentially support children to develop a positive sense of themselves so they have the confidence to provide their own opinions and make sensible decisions.The Prevent duty comes from the Counter-Terrorism and Security Act 2015 that states certain authorities must makes attempts to prevent people from being drawn into terrorism. This course will examine how this can be applied to early years settings in England and Scotland.The fundamental British values and Prevent duty can be applied together to safeguard children in our care from being drawn into extremism.
