Pre-Birth to Three

Recent research suggests that even as babies we learn from our environment. As an early years practitioner in Scotland, it's important to understand your impact on a child's development as their carer and the most essential course to help this is Pre-Birth to Three.The Pre-Birth to Three framework offers national guidance for staff working with Scotland's youngest children.This Pre-Birth to Three course provides an overview of why it's essential that we give children the best possible start in life in these most critical years and why working in partnership with parents and carers is so important.You will be introduced to the Pre-Birth to Three framework and learn about how to incorporate its principles in your daily practice.Aims: Gain confidence in understanding what your role is in supporting the four key principles of Pre-Birth to ThreeDiscover how to embed the key principles within your playroomsLearn how to support and develop children as individualsDevelop an understanding of brain development and how theory can be put into practiceLearn about the importance of heuristic play for the under 3'sAt the end of this course you will have an understanding of how the Pre-Birth to Three document can be embedded into daily practice. You will learn about heuristic play and how to implement this effectively within playrooms. You will also gain insight into how brain development occurs and look at current pioneering theorists and evidence surrounding how it impacts on a child's health, wellbeing and development in their formative years.
