Allergen Awareness

Anyone working in the food industry, from food preparation, through manufacturing, distribution and retail, needs to take special care to ensure that the food products are safe to eat, especially for consumers with food allergies or intolerances.Employers have a legal obligation to train their staff in matters of food hygiene and food allergy awareness. Failure to observe safety procedures, insufficient product labelling and incorrect handling of allergen-free and allergenic foodstuffs can have serious health implications for the consumer who has eaten them. It can also damage brand reputation and lead to consequential job losses.
