'The International Diabetes Federation (IDF) has recently estimated that in 2030, 9.9% of the adult population will have Diabetes' (Elsevier Doyma, 2013). This is around 4 million people. With life expectancy increasing and older people living longer, age related Diabetes is increasing. The effects of this disease have complications that can seriously affect a person's life if left unattended. This course aims to give you an insight into Diabetes and ageing. We will look at the different types of Diabetes, the health complications it can cause, as well as the ways that you can help to ease the symptoms for those in your care.
