Mental Capacity

Mental capacity is something everyone is deemed to have, until thorough examinations determine otherwise. It is underpinned by different pieces of legislation in both England and Wales, and Scotland, which results in different processes and terminology. This course provides support workers with information to familiarise themselves with mental capacity, and the key roles and terminology used within the Acts.This course primarily investigates the Mental Health Act (2007) for England and Wales, and the Mental Health (Care and Treatment)(Scotland) Act 2003 for Scotland, Acts which aim to protect those who do not have or who have lost their mental capacity.
